We're seeking an experienced Restaurant General Manager to lead the daily operations of our dine-in restaurant and bar located on the campus of Johns Hopkins University. This is a hands-on working manager position responsible for overseeing front-of-house operations, bar operations, guest experience, staffing, scheduling, labor management, and coordination with the kitchen team. The General Manager will lead a team of approximately 7–10 employees during a typical shift and must be comfortable working alongside the team, including assisting with guest service, the bar, expo, stocking, and other operational responsibilities as needed. Key Responsibilities Lead the daily operation of the restaurant and bar Hire, train, coach, schedule, and supervise employees Deliver an outstanding guest experience Work alongside the front-of-house team and behind the bar as needed Prepare and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages when necessary Ensure responsible alcohol service and compliance with applicable regulations Manage staffing and labor based on business needs Resolve guest concerns and operational issues Partner with the Kitchen Manager to maintain food quality, speed, and consistency Monitor inventory, ordering, waste, and operating expenses Maintain restaurant cleanliness, organization, and operating standards Support special events and university functions Complete opening and closing responsibilities Qualifications At least 3 years of restaurant or hospitality management experience required Experience managing a full-service restaurant preferred Bar or bartending experience strongly preferred TIPS certification preferred or willingness to obtain Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills Comfortable leading by example and working alongside the team Food safety certification preferred or willingness to obtain Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods Benefits: 401(k) Employee discount Flexible schedule Paid training
